Who we are

LinkSentinel is a trading name of JeffNet LTD (Company No. 16842612), a company registered in England and Wales. References to "LinkSentinel", "we", "us", or "our" in this policy mean JeffNet LTD.

No advertising, no tracking

LinkSentinel does not run advertising, does not use third-party analytics or tracking scripts, and does not sell or rent personal data to anyone. The only cookie the service sets is a functional session cookie that keeps you signed in -- there is no tracking cookie to consent to.

What we collect, and why

  • Your email address and password, used solely to authenticate you (email + password sign-in, or Google Sign-In) and to contact you about your account. Your password is never stored in plain text -- it's hashed by our authentication provider before being saved.
  • YouTube channel data (channel ID, handle, video titles and descriptions) fetched via the YouTube Data API, limited to channels you've added and verified ownership of. Verifying ownership involves reading your channel's public About description to confirm a code you placed there.
  • Link-check results -- the URLs found in your content, and the status LinkSentinel observes when checking them (working, broken, redirected, out of stock, etc.). This describes third-party web pages, not you personally.
  • Standard web server logs (IP address, request timestamps) generated by our hosting provider.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers (subprocessors) to run LinkSentinel. None of them are permitted to use your data for their own advertising or marketing purposes:

  • Supabase -- database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Google -- used in two separate, limited ways. If you choose Google Sign-In, Google shares only your basic profile (name, email, profile photo) to authenticate you -- nothing about your YouTube account or content. Separately, LinkSentinel reads public channel and video data via the YouTube Data API for channels you've added and verified. Our use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
  • Scrapfly -- a proxy service used to reliably check link status; it processes the URLs being checked.
  • Resend -- delivers transactional emails (account confirmation and password-reset emails, account notifications).
  • Vercel -- application hosting.
  • Stripe -- once paid plans are introduced, Stripe will process payment information directly; LinkSentinel does not store card details.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, we rely on the provider's own standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

How we protect your data

  • Encrypted at rest and in transit -- your data is encrypted at rest by our database provider (Supabase/Postgres) and encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) everywhere it travels, including between your browser and our servers.
  • Per-account data isolation -- database-level access rules (row-level security) ensure your data is only ever readable by your own account, enforced by the database itself, not just application code.
  • Least-privilege internal access -- the elevated credentials our backend uses to run scans and administer the service are never exposed to a browser or client device.

How long we keep data

Data is kept for as long as your account and the channels on it remain active. Removing a channel deletes its videos, bio pages, podcast feeds, and link-check history. Deleting your account removes your data in the same way. We don't keep a retained copy after deletion beyond what our hosting provider's own backups briefly retain.

Your rights

If you're in the UK or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, object to or restrict certain processing, and complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe we've mishandled your data. Contact us (below) for any of these.

Children

LinkSentinel is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect data from, anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
